As recipients of the Bulgarian National Radio’s “Enlightener of the Year” award for 2018, we take seriously our responsibility to contribute to the development of contemporary Bulgarian culture and education. We strive to do this through additional initiatives, both at Studio Zmei and through the Zmei Academy.
Фокусът на Академия Змей е да допринесем опит и експертиза в света на образованието. Към момента инициативата има три основни направления, както и няколко партньорски проекта.
Our first area of focus is collaboration with foreign universities. For the past six years, we have been hosting students from EDHEC Business School, Lille, France. Nearly thirty young people from around the world visit Sofia for the first time as part of the seminar every spring. In addition to getting to know Bulgaria, they learn about the history and experience of “Studio Zmei” through lectures and exercises on the animation industry and business, led by the Studio’s team. The event is part of the university’s master’s program and continues to evolve and expand each year.
Followinf the same line, the heads of the creative teams at Studio Zmei—Stanislav Tsvetkov and Dimitar Petrov—participated in the mentoring program at the University of Dundee in Scotland.
Through local partnerships, we also participate in specialized events—such as the Festival of Young European CinemaMeetings of Young European Cinema – Festival for Children and Youth, and the Days of Digital Creativity at “Artis.” There, we give lectures and master classes on the production processes involved in animated films aimed at children.
Starting in the 2024–2025 school year, our Head of animation team and co-founder, Stanislav Tsvetkov, has been teaching a specialized course in “Computer Animation” at 51st Secondary School “Elisaveta Bagryana.” For two years now, the course has been building upon the official pilot program of the Ministry of Education and Science, thereby supporting the creation of a modern education in the arts. This is the third focus of “Zmei Academy”—the direct development and delivery of modern educational programs in the field of animation.
